How long have you been in the industry?
3 loooooong years!
What were you doing before this job and how did you get this gig?
I had just come out of a “sales manager’ role in Perth and met up with a Melbourne friend who suggested I give it a go.
Define your job in one word:
What were your real and cliché expectations of working in the industry?
My expectations were…. I thought that it would be a lot easier. I had no cliché expectations as I had worked as a business broker previously.
How does the reality match up?
It’s a great job. It requires high energy, tenacity, and you have to stick at it!!!
How would you describe what the company does and what does your role involve?
Our company provides our clients with the option of working with an experienced and caring broker who can seek out the best finance product to fit their long-term goals. Or to work with our world-class online system that makes the online application simple and fast.
For clients that prefer the online application option, I would suggest that we offer a first class web experience, however if your finance needs are complicated or require more detailed analysis – my role specialises in helping out in a hands on capacity.
Best thing about the industry you work in:
I love the flexibility and being able to work from anywhere where there is a phone and a laptop.
What’s exciting you about the industry right now?
Online Home Loans are bringing a world-class product to the online application arena. I am VERY excited about that!
Where do you turn for inspiration?
I am a huge fan of Tony Robbins. His approach to life and the amount of people he helps is an absolute inspiration.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
I cry in sad movies. I’ve got a soft centre!!! (Like a Caramello Koala)
What’s your personal motto?
WOW I have so many. At the moment my mantra is “RAISE YOUR STANDARDS”. Raise the standard of what you are willing to accept for your life.
I got into broking because:
I felt that my life experience in business, real estate, broking and sales were a perfect recipe to make me a standout broker in the industry. Understanding many aspects of those things give you empathy and understanding when you are dealing with finance clients.
If I weren’t doing this for a living, I’d be:
My secret dream would be to be involved in a motivational / coach role. Maybe one day.
